I had a dream the cast of Band of Brothers climbed a mountain and started to tap dance, fatigues and boots and all. It was a pretty awesome dream.

Took some photos when I was in China, mostly of the World Expo in Shanghai. I almost didn't go because of work obligation, but everyone was nagging me because this was my one chance, so I took my last Tuesday off to wander into the Expo by myself.

I want to see the new Sherlock but the thought of going through yet another Chinatown episode makes me want to headdesk. Has anyone else seen it? ....How is it? 8/

1.) Webcomics! Evan Dahm's webcomic Order of Tales has recently come to an end, so maybe now would be a good time for you to check it out! It has some pretty fantastic worldbuilding and storytelling, and his inking is gorgeous. And while you're there, you might as well read his first story set in the same universe, Rice Boy, as well. They're two of my favorite webcomics ever, so do give 'em a whirl if you're looking for something to do.

2.) China! So for the past month, I've been in Shanghai interning at an ad agency. My job was to draw up storyboards for campaign pitches. (And occasionally, run to my boss's restaurant to fetch him some wine. That was kind of hilarious.) But since you don't need storyboards for every pitch, mostly what I did was sit around and bum around the Internet, and sometimes it got so boring I would reread my old Jython code. I reread old codes I wrote for homework. Clearly, I was losing it. Anyway, my internship is over, and now I'm chilling out in my hometown, eating lots of noodles. Noodles make me happy.

3.) Meme! [livejournal.com profile] t_lyrical asked me five pretty awesome questions, and here are my answers.
Leave a comment saying "SET PHASERS TO STUN" and I'll respond by asking you five questions to satisfy my curiosity. Update your journal with the answers to your questions. Include this explanation and offer to ask other people questions.
answers! involve many shenanigans. )

1)  [livejournal.com profile] adraekh IS BACCCKKKKK \o/ Now I can pester her with too much capslock, random questions about fandom I'm too lazy to  look up myself, and endless demands for fic plenty of general nonsense again. YAY. You have been missed! (And you're the only person who writes me indulgent Zell/Seifer fic, SO ahahaha) Please continue to be the other part of our phail duo ♥ ♥ ♥

2) Leaving Shanghai for Wuhan next Wednesday, and MAN it could not come any sooner. It's getting super humid here, so all my clothes are kind of damp in the morning, and my shoes are growing mold.

3) I think this is the pinkest picture I have ever drawn lol

I've been on a SoulSilver binge lately. Love all the details they've added to the cities, the gym interiors are crazy awesome, and the gym leader redesigns are glorious. Why did no one tell me before that Claire was a total hottie??

Three more under the cut.

Today, I turned 18 and celebrated by going into work and spending my lunch break freaking out with my coworker about campaign proposals. On the bright side, I woke up to the realization I'd never have to deal with another mature-content lock on livejournal again, which cheered me up considerably.

Something else - as I was walking to the bus stop today, I saw a large group of young twenty-somethings dancing halfheartedly to bad techno music. At one point, they did the macarena together. I've no idea why. This wasn't private either, it was right in the open, on the steps of a restaurant. It's kept me amused all day :D

And sketches and stuff, so that this post isn't completely pointless.

Leaving for Shanghai tomorrow! Other than airplanes, the only thing I enjoy less about these kinds of things is packing. Packing and me ... we don't get along very well. And I hope China doesn't randomly decide to block livejournal since the last time I checked. That would be sad.

On the bright side:

HELL YES. Five hours waiting in the Tokyo airport, and then seven hours in Seattle on the way back? BRING ITTTT.

(Yeah that seven hours thing is still going to suck)

My webassign score, let me show you it (and this is after having an entire day to work on it, which I basically used to sleep and read Detective Conan)

How 'bout I ignore that and just post those pictures of China I promised.

China photos + random merch I bought )

Oh shi - I'm terrible at this meme thing, aren't I? I keep forgetting to go on lj because of the GREAT FIREWALL we've got over here.

Let's compress the past three days and finish this meme up!

1.) FAMILY REUNION OH GOD. It was only my mom's side of the family, but there was still so many people akshdasd;

Okay, I seriously don't remember what happened two days ago, so LET'S JUST TALK ABOUT YESTERDAY
2.) I met up with my friend, whom I haven't seen in 2 years
3.) We watched danceoffs on her television. The teams had names like "foot style rockers" (I don't even KNOW), "x-power" and "dragon style". Dragon style won! (Well, they had some pretty sweet breakdance moves, not going to lie.) At least it wasn't the foot style rockers.
4.) We ate lunch, and it was delicious. When is Chinese food not delicious? I'm getting fat, haha
5.) Then we wandered around together, which was fun
6.) She forced me to eat some stinky tofu and in the end I got addicted to that stuff, haha
7.) We ate Korean-style BBQ for dinner!
8.) And today I finished another portfolio piece. Only one more left!

So um, I still haven't done those five sketches OTL;; B-but worry not, I will as soon as I get back to the U.S.!

And tomorrow I'm leaving for Shanghai, so I won't have a computer to use for a while. The next time I get back on lj I'll post some pictures all of my baby cousin :)

Last but not least, happy new year! Or happy "niu" (cow) year as some Chinese people are saying LOL Chinese-English puns, I approve.

Meme time!
1.) I bought little keychain gifts for my friends!
2.) I bought a bunch of random jewelry-type thingies for myself
3.) We got some popcorn and my grandma and I ganbei'd each other with the empty tubs.
4.) Mmm, lunch was delicious.
5.) My grandma bought some dough balls stuffed with sugar and covered with sesame seeds. Yummy!
6.) I found a plaid jacket that was super cool and purchased it.
7.) There was a big sign on one of the buildings that said "MODERN BOSOM FRIEND" in English, fft I love engrish
8.) I was actually able to read a good many of the Chinese characters I saw today!

Random dream babbling! I had one where Demyx was playing piano in a fancypants mansion and Mickey Mouse was holding a meeting with the fairies from Sleeping Beauty in one of the rooms.

Then Axel and Roxas walk out and asked me what was going on in the rest of the house, and I think I said something like "yeah, someone didn't close the lid on the baby grand." Whereupon Demyx said "IT WASN'T ME MAN" and jumped down the stairs.

OKAY SO I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD DREAM. Mostly the Demyx part, yeah. (Hush, you.)

Yeah, lj's blocked in China. I'm using a circumventor site but there's still a few issues, so I'll see if I can reply to all your comments after this.

MEME THING
1. I arrived safe and sound in China!
2. I ate some lamb kebab-type thingies and these noodles that you can only find in my hometown. OH, HOW I HAVE MISSED THEM
3 My mom bought me a new coat! It looks pretty cool. I'm loving it so far.
4. I saw my baby cousin, who is just about the cutest, fattest thing ever
5. There was a DVD that said "SAVE YOU MY WIFE" on it and it made me laugh
6. My grandma gave me a bright yellow cup for my toothbrush, and a blue towel. Heehee, I think they're cute
7. I CAUGHT A FEEBAS, FINALLY. Then I caught around seven more to make sure I got one with the right nature //dorrkk
8. dA's not blocked in China anymore!

So all the girl BFFs here walk around with linked arms and stuff, which I totally expected, but then the GUYS started doing it too. And then I noticed some of them were wearing MATCHING JACKETS and then it was just me going "WHAT the heezy."

To be fair, it was probably because the shopping center we were at was frickin' crowded on Christmas Eve and they didn't want to get lost, but it still doesn't explain the MATCHING JACKETS (and the fact that they apparently go out shopping together at night???)

Well, maybe I'm overthinking this. Everyone's pretty physical in China.

Merry Christmas everyone! (dude, it's like I'm telling you that from the FUTURE)
